Tom was appointed to the RRHA Board of Commissioners in March 2024. He retired from the City of Roanoke where he served as the Director of Planning, Building and Development. He is currently a board member of PedalSafe Roanoke, serves on the region’s bicycle and pedestrian committee and is a youth cycling coach with Star City Cycling.  Tom has a BA in history from Hamilton College, an MAT in teaching from Brown University and an MA in Geography from Appalachian State University.
