Explore what’s happening by checking out our monthly calendar! As part of this initiative, RRHA is proud to partner with local organizations to provide youth with the free resources listed below.

Meet the Community Partners Who Make This Possible

  • Taylor’s Tutoring hosts two small after-school tutoring groups for elementary and junior high/high school students. These sessions also offer access to the newly established computer lab at Villages at Lincoln, providing students with hands-on experience using digital learning tools.
  • One World Arts leads weekly youth art classes that promote peace and nonviolence in neighborhoods through creative expression and community engagement.
  • Family Services of Roanoke Valley facilitates both a Positive Actions Group and a Teen Outreach Program (TOP). These programs are designed to help adolescents develop healthy peer relationships and nurture mental wellness through structured discussions, activities, and mentorship.
  •  The Western Virginia Area Labor Federation is excited to launch a summer pilot program featuring weekly workshops and camps that introduce teens to rewarding career pathways in the skilled trades. These hands-on, interactive sessions are designed to ignite interest in high-demand professions and provide practical insights that empower youth. Participants who complete the program will earn a $200 stipend in recognition of their commitment and achievement. Stay tuned—more details coming soon!

The Harvest Collective and Star City Compost are partnering with RRHA to create a large-scale community garden at the Villages at Lincoln!

Through this program, RRHA is excited to offer paid opportunities for teens to help create a large-scale organic garden and plant fruit trees at both the Villages at Lincoln and Melrose Towers! This hands-on initiative will give youth valuable skills in gardening and sustainability, participants and community members will have the chance to learn about and engage in compost collection, cooking classes, and family nights that celebrate food grown in the gardens.
