2021 Canned Food Drive

Roanoke Housing Authority invites the community to join us for the 2021 Canned Food Drive and Reusable Bag Event. This event is a chance to give back to the community during the holiday season. At the start of 2022, a five-cent plastic bag tax is going into effect in Roanoke City. In light of that, RRHA wants to continue to help our residents by providing all our housing units with a reusable tote bag, filled with canned goods, just in time for the holidays!

The 2021 Canned Food Drive and Reusable Bag Event will be accepting donations starting now until November 30th. You can donate your items to the central office of RRHA at 2624 Salem Turnpike N.W. in the lobby.

RRHA encourages the community of Roanoke to donate whatever they can to help out the residents of RRHA. Below you will find our wish list of non-perishable foods that we are accepting.

THE NEED: Currently, about 1,425 of those units are occupied with families, single parents, and individuals

We intend to give each housing unit a reusable bag full of nutritious, canned goods in time for the holidays. Non-perishable food is best packaged in canned, paper, plastic, or cardboard containers.
