RRHA Partnerships

The agencies listed below work closely with RRHA to provide opportunities and assistance for public housing residents. RRHA values the working relationship with each partner and the expertise they bring to each community.

Teen Health Centers

RRHA’s participation in the Roanoke Adolescent Health Partnership (RAHP), in cooperation with Roanoke City Health Department and Roanoke City Schools has made it possible for the Teen Health Centers at Hurt Park, Patrick Henry High School and William Fleming/William Ruffner Schools to deliver expanded health services to adolescents living in Roanoke City.

Conflict Resolution Center

The mission of the Conflict Resolution Center is to provide the community with innovative, affordable and cooperative ways to resolve differences and transform relationships. When needed, they provide mediation services within a community. As mediators, they do not decide who is right or wrong, but help to ensure that communication is respectful and productive. Boy Scouts

The Boy Scouts provide a quality scouting program to all boys in grades 1-12 with character building, citizenship training and learning by doing. Girl Scouts

Girl Scouts of Virginia Skyline Council is committed to making Girl Scouting possible for all girls who seek the enriching experiences that our program provides. As an outreach effort designed to involve at-risk or in-risk girls who live in Roanoke City's public housing communities, Girl Scouts offers the Community Initiatives Program. Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place. Goodwill Industries of the Valleys, Inc.

Education, work readiness and training are vital factors in the creation of good citizens and exceptional municipalities. Developing a diverse workforce that is prepared and trained offers businesses and communities a chance to grow, change and expand. Goodwill Industries of the Valleys, Inc. fosters economic development and growth through education by identifying those individuals who are eligible for and may benefit from the services offered through the Workforce Investment Act. Head Start

Head Start provides comprehensive preschool child and family development programs to low-income families. Services include medical, dental, educational and social services. Head Start offers parent training and educational opportunities. Services are provided at Lansdowne Park, The Villages at Lincoln, Indian Rock Village and Hurt Park.

Blue Ridge Behavioral Healthcare - Prevention Plus

This agency provides education, awareness and skill building services, which are designed to help empower children, youth and adults to resist pressures to use alcohol, tobacco and other drugs and engage in other destructive behaviors. Boys and Girls Club of Roanoke Valley

The Boys and Girls Club of Roanoke Valley provides a safe place to learn while offering tutoring and homework assistance as well as classes in arts, crafts, dance and photography. The Club also sponsors athletic programs. One of the club’s focuses is Project Learn which uses homework help, tutoring, high yield learning/leisure activities, goal setting and parental/school support to improve academic performance among youth from disadvantaged circumstances.

New Century Venture Center

The New Century Venture Center is the only certified small business incubator operating in the region and is a part of a statewide network of small business incubators. Its programs are recognized and financially supported by the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Apple Ridge Farm

Since 1989, the RRHA has partnered with Apple Ridge Farm to provide a summer academic camp for students living in public housing and other economically disadvantaged youth.  Apple Ridge Farm is a non profit organization located on 8.42 acres of farm land in Copper Hill, VA with a mission "to provide enriching outdoor and academic experience to less fortunate children, especially those residing in public housing communities".  For more information, contact (540) 982-1322 or visit www.appleridgefarm.org.
